What is Chair Yoga?
Chair Yoga is a fantastic class which is hugely beneficial for so many people - we take the huge physical and mental benefits of yoga and offer it in a seated position, or standing with the chair for added support. This class will really help improve general mobility, strength, flexibility, balance and self-confidence as well as improving overall well being.
It is particularly those who are ordinarily unable to take part in a regular yoga session due to some kind of physical limitation, such as:
- limited mobility/ getting up and down from the floor - have a disability - older/ age related moblity issues - joint issues / replacements - unsteady or at risk of falling - injured or recoving from illness -sedentary, very unfit and want to start yoga from a more supported position
What do I need?
For the in-person class, just comfortable clothing, maybe a drink and if you have a yoga mat then bring it (it can help make the chair more stable) but it's not essential if you don't have one.
For Zoom classes, you will need a hard backed chair (e.g. a dining room chair), ideally without arms. An office chair would be ok as long as it doesn't have wheels!! It needs to be stable and you will need to have sufficient room around it to move about and be able to see your computer/device screen clearly.
